Long-Range Coupling of Posterior Cell Addition and Anterior Vacuolation Provides Robustness in Notochord Elongation.
This study reveals that in zebrafish, YAP signaling regulates a long-range feedback mechanism coupling posterior progenitor addition with anterior vacuolation to ensure robust notochord elongation, a balance that is disrupted in *vgll4b* mutants by excessive progenitor recruitment and impaired cell expansion.
